Why Spice Talk?

Passion is the spice of life. We are passionate about those things we feel compelled to think, talk, and act upon: the things that truly interest us at the deepest levels and make life worth it for us as individuals.

If you were told that you had five minutes to write down the name of everything of such value to you that you couldn’t live without it, and in fact eveything that was not on the list would disappear forever, what would be on your list? I’m just beginning to understand what would be on mine.

This is Thanksgiving week and I am thankful for passion: for the intense feelings that spice up life. I am going to show my gratitude to the Universe for passion by running in the Turkey Trot in downtown Dallas on Thursday. Okay, I’m not going to run: I am going to stroll, but it’s the thought that counts. My goal will not be to win, but to simply not come in last place.

Similarly, I joined the Nanowrimo writing contest this month. For those who do not know about Nanowrimo, please go to www.nanowrimo.org . My goal is again not to come in first place, but simply not to be in last place. After all, sometimes the turtle wins the race eventually. At least, I’ve been told this and being a wishful thinker, I hope it is true.
